Panama can be reached by plane. There are plenty of flights coming from numerous North, South, and central American countries. The Tocumen International Airport is situated east of the Panama city. The national airline is the COPA. From the airport, travelers can reach the city by riding bus, taxicabs, or rental cars. Tourists should be prepared to pay exorbitant prices though. A taxi ride from the airport to the city will cost around $20 US. Hotels can be found near the airport but prices are more expensive. A one-night stay can cost as much as $60 US. Panama can be reached by private planes because the country has a lot of private airstrips.
Three land borders exist from Rica to Panama, the most famous of which is the Paso Canoas . The border is usually busy and not so organized though. The two other land borders are the Guabito-Sixaola on the Atlantic side and the Rio Sereno on the Pacific side. Tourists coming from Costa Rica can reach Panama through the Paso Canoas, Panaline, and Ticabus. The trip will take about 18 hours. Travelers coming from Colombia can walk across the Darien Gap, but this would be very dangerous.
Traveling within the country is possible with the two kinds of buses, the city buses, and the buses which can be found along the highway. Most food in Panama uses cilantro. There is even spaghetti laced with the herb. There is not much meals with beans here unlike the rest of Central America, and Panamanians are also not fond of spicy food. Chicken is the favorite meat in the country like the rest of Central America. Food in Bocas del Toro uses a lot of coconut because of the heavy Carribean influence. Excellent food is also quite inexpensive here, and a high-profile meal with excellent drinks can go as low as $8 US. Panama produces local good tasting beers such as Balboa, Soberana, Atlas, and Goldbest, with Balboa regarded as the best of the lot. There is also a local rum, the Carta Vieja. The local liquor of Panama, Seco, is a white rum usually served with milk. This is called seco con leche.
