Main Attractions of Greenland

Nuuk
This is the capital city of Greenland. Tourists usually go to Nuuk first before traveling to the rest of Greenland. It is more convenient to arrange tours and boat trips from this city, and it even lies close to excellent day hikes with magnificent view of the mountains. The Kolonihavnen is a picturesque fishing village dating back to the 18th century. This is different and a refreshing sight from the rest of Nuuk.

Qaqortoq
This is a clean, peaceful town with a population of only 3,500 people. Tourists use the place as a base for their hiking trips to different destinations – to Peter’s Cairn or to the town of Igaliku and around the lake of Tasersuaq. It has an interesting museum which showcases wonderful Inuit and Viking artifacts, a historic old church, and amazing art exhibits in the culture house. The boat ride to the most popular and beautifully preserved Viking ruin in the country, the Hvalsey Church, is a favorite activity among tourists.

Ilulissat Kangerlua
This resulted from the magnificent glacier Sermeq Kujalleq, which is 5km/3miles wide and 1100m/3608ft thick. This glacier is responsible for one tenth of all the icebergs flowing in the waters of Greenland.

Northeast Greenland National Park
This is the largest and ironically most inaccessible park in the whole world. For many years, the park was open only to teams conducting scientific researches. It houses caribou wolves, polar bears, and a wide variety of Arctic flora.
